The Founder
Hi, I’m Steven.The idea for Tahoe Mountain Cars has been living in my head for a while.Years ago, I used to travel to the Bay Area for work and extend my stay to head up to Tahoe for the weekend. In the winter, those trips always came with a bit of risk. I’d rent an SUV from a traditional rental company and just hope it was actually AWD.Later, after moving to San Francisco, I had a car that could get through chain control - but I still ran into issues with tires that weren’t true snow tires.In the summer, it was a different challenge - there just wasn’t enough space to store all the gear I wanted, like bike racks, kayak mounts, and rooftop storage boxes.Now that I live full-time in Truckee, I know firsthand how much of a difference real snow tires make and I finally have the space for all my Tahoe toys. But when guests visit, I’m reminded of how frustrating it can be without the right vehicle. My in-laws recently couldn’t make it up our driveway in a light snowstorm, and it brought all those old experiences back.Tahoe Mountain Cars was born out of those moments.Visiting the Sierras is a unique experience. Having a vehicle that’s ready for the mountains—and whatever the weather throws at you—can make all the difference.
